Well would be apart from hosing the box within 3 hours.

Once Xen is up an running, mini boxes will be doing it all.

Update: An image I took a while back.

So I did some more searching and came accross a patch for 2.6.26 that I have modified to work with 2.6.27.

Original: http://people.redhat.com/csnook/atl2/atlx/atl2-2.6.26-4.patch.bz2

Gentoo – eee PC 901 – Kernel Configuration 2.6.27

So I said I would do it and here is is. The current and as I update it kernel configuration for the eee PC 901.

I currently have NOT got the ethernet or bluetooth working, I actually havn’t even started to get the bluetooth working, but ethernet doesn’t seem to want to work. If anyone has any ideas, then hit me up!

Gentoo on a Asus EEE PC 901

So far this setup has been a little tricky. In kernel support for the Wireless device comes with 2.6.27, so I prepared a LiveUSB with the install ISO and some of the bare necessary packages like, gentoo-sources-2.6.27, reiserfsprogs, dhcpcd and grub oh and of course a stage3 and portage snapshot.

Once I had got that all configured up I attempted to use distcc but kept on getting errors. So I did the normal emerge -uD world once booted and with net connectivity and over night I left xorg-x11 compiling. It took:

real    110m59.439s
user    72m10.081s
sys     25m20.474s

Which I don’t think is that bad for a tiny 900Mhz machine :)

(If I get time I will post up my kernel configs for others.)

1.1.4 Jailbreak iTouch/iPhone for MacOSX (Soft)

To reach a 1.1.4 version on my iTouch I have performed the following steps.

Restored 1.1.1

Ran OKToPrep

Upgraded to 1.1.2

(Basically the above steps I followed the instructions on this page and stopped once I had a 1.1.2 and Installer on my SpringBoard.)

This is a modification of the Windows version I found here.

The MacOSX version can be found here.

Open up a terminal and execute the following:
cd ~/
mkdir tmp
cd tmp
curl -o 1.1.4_Jailbreak_MacOSX.tar.bz2 http://danb-uk.net/~dan/files/1.1.4_Jailbreak_MacOSX.tar.bz2
tar -xjvf  1.1.4_Jailbreak_MacOSX.tar.bz2
cd 1.1.4_Jailbreak_MacOSX
./jailbreak.sh

Now wait, if it doesn’t restart then just power off your iTouch and wait a few seconds, then power it back on!

I have only tested this once and I can confirm that my About info is 1.1.4, any feedback is appreciated.

Cheers,

DanB UK.

Update: So I had some issues with Installer.App failing to install some packages, but that might just relate to 1.1.4 compatibility of those Apps… Researching further… Update: Just Re-Install the Installer and relaunch it then everything was fine! 1.1.4 Here I am!

HDD Fscked

Bugger. The disk’s head has virtually died.

Managed to recover some data so far, but not much…

(Serves me right for having crap backups, it’s been an issue with me for a few months, first a laptop now a server.)

Happy new year!

Cheers,

Dan.
